Alka Lamba was the Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) from 2007 to 2011. She left the Congress Party and joined Aam Aadmi Party in 2014. For the first time, she participated in the assembly elections from Chandni Chowk in 2015 and luckily she won the contest. In 2019, she left the Aam Aadmi Party and again joined Congress in 2020, and this time she contested Chandni Chowk but sadly she lost.
