Anders Danielsen Lie is a successful actor, musician, and medical doctor from Oslo, Norway. He studied Ancient Greek from 1997 to 1998, Musicology (2001-2003), and Medicine (1999-2007) at the University of Oslo. He co-wrote a Norwegian language non-fiction sexual education book for young adults.
Career
As an actor, Anders Danielsen Lie made his film debut in the title role of Herman (1990) at age 11. He is best known for his leading roles in multi-award-winning Reprise (2006), 22 July (2018), and Oslo, 31 August (2011). At the 2011 Cannes Film Festival selected Oslo, 31 August for Un Certain Regard.
Danielsen Lie performed two different versions of his role in The Night Eats The World (2018), one in English and one in French. He wrote, performed, and produced a concept album with music This Is Autism, loosely based on recordings from his childhood in 2011.
Danielsen Lie plays a major role as Aksel in Joachim Trier in the 2021 films The Worst Person in the World and Mia Hansen-Løve’s Bergman Island. In 2017, he received the nominations for Best Actor, TV Drama, for his performance on the 2016 Norwegian television series Nobel.
He earned the National Society of Film Critics’ Award for Best Supporting Actor 2022 for his part in The Worst Person in the World. Time Magazine named the performance one of the 10 best movie performances of 2021. Vanity Fair and The Atlantic declared the best film of 2021.
Anders Danielsen Lie has also maintained his practice working with patients in Oslo. While promoting Bergman Island. He repeated, “It doesn’t really work and I would never recommend that anybody else combine the two. ”
However, he has maintained both a successful acting career and his medical practice. After filming The Worst Person in the World in 2020. He began working as a medical supervisor for the COVID-19 vaccination center.
