Annu Kapoor is a renowned Indian movie Actor, film director, theatre actor, television presenter, television producer, comedian and radio host primarily recognized for his work in Bollywood. He is notably famous for a Zee TV show titled Antakshari as a host. Annu Kapoor was born in Itwara, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India on 20th February, 1956.
He made his filmic debut with Shyam Benegal’s movie Mandi in the year1979. His career has crossed more than thirty years now, covering a distinctive presence in Bollywood cinema, television serials and reality shows. He is still recognized for hosting an iconic singing competition Antakshari broadcasted on Zee Television, directed by veteran Gajendra Singh.
Annu Kapoor was accredited as Anil Kapoor in his debut movie though in order to avoid confusion with superstar actor Anil Kapoor, he ultimately amended it to Annu Kapoor. He played supporting, comedian as well as negative roles. He first came into attention with his character of Mr. Gaitonde in megahit blockbuster movie Mr. India. After that, he has frequently starred in Bollywood movies. His most archetypal roles are his character of a neighbor and a debt collector and in the super hit movie Raincoat in 2004, a compulsive and tormenting Sperm Doctor in the movie Vicky Donor, for which he also received National Award and his role as a lawyer in the movie Jolly LLB2.
Annu Kapoor presently is busy with recreating the illusion of Golden Era of Bollywood on a radio program titled “Suhaana Safar” aired on 92.7 Big FM” and the tag line of this show is titled “Filmy Duniya Ki Kahi Ankahi Kahaniya”.
Annu Kapoor was born to a Bengali mother named Kamal Shabnam Kapoor and Punjabi father named Madanlal Kapoor. He has a younger sister named Seema Kapoor, who is a film producer and two brothers named Nikhil Kapoor and Ranjit Kapoor. Annu is married to Anupama Kapoor and the couple has four kids including three sons named Evaan Kapoor, Maahir Kapoor, Kavam Kapoor and a daughter named Aradhita Kapoor.
