Aruna Irani is a legendry Indian movies actress who has appeared in more than 300 movies in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and Kannada cinema, typically playing character and supporting roles. Aruna has danced on most popular songs like Thoda Resham Lagta Hai, Chadti Jawani Meri Chaal Mastani, Ab Jo Mile Hai, Dilbar Dilse Pyare and Main shayar to nahi. Aruna Irani was born in Mumbai, India on 18th August 1946. Her mom Saguna was a famous actress while her father Faredun Irani associated a drama group. Aruna is the eldest of 8 siblings, and left studies after her 6th standard just because her family did not have sufficient amount of money to teach all the kids.
She made her first appearance with the movie Ganga Yamuna representing the role of Azra’s childhood. She afterwards appeared in the movie titled Anpadh as Mala Sinha’s infantile role. Aruna Irani afterward did a number of small roles in movies like Jahanara, Farz, Upkar and Aaya Sawan Jhoomke. She later starred with famous comedian Mehmood Ali in movies like Aulad, Devi, Humjoli and Naya Zamana.
In the year1971, Aruna Irani appeared in Caravan. After that, she appeared in Bombay To Goa, Garam Masala and Do Phool. Her movies included Farz, Bobby, Fakira, Sargam, Red Rose, Love Story and Rocky. Aruna received her first Filmfare Supporting Actress Award for the movies Pet Pyaar Aur Paap.
In 1980s & 1990s, Aruna Irani changed to playing the roles of mothers, markedly in Beta for which she bestowed with her second Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actress. She starred in Kannada re-creation of identical movie with the identical role. A few of her Marathi movies are Bhingari, Aandhla Marto Dola, Lapwa Chapvi, Changu Mangu, Mitwaa, Ek Gadi Baki Anadi and Bol Baby Bol.
