Dasun Shanaka was born on 9 September 1991, he is a very great Sri Lankan cricketer holds the role of captain in limited-overs formats for the Sri Lankan national cricket team.
Shanaka serves as an all-rounder which makes him right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler.
Career
Shanaka’s name was skyrocketed when he led the Sri Lankan Twenty20 International (T20I) side against Pakistan in 2019. Under his captaincy his team won 3-0 series complete whitewash over Pakistan.
In February 2021, as Shanaka was officially appointed as Sri Lanka’s T20I captain in preparation for their tour of the West Indies, succeeding the legendary Lasith Malinga.
In July 2021, Shanaka was appointed as the captain of Sri Lanka’s ODI squad for their series against India. This decision demonstrated the trust placed in him to guide the team to success in multiple formats of the game.
Shanaka’s captaincy was peaking high in 2022 when he led Sri Lanka to a victory in the Asia Cup.
