Divya Spandana is professionally known by her screen name Ramya. She is a former Indian actress and politician. She is known as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Mandya, Karnataka. Initially, she started working in South Indian movies including Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu movies. She is an award-winning actress.
Career
In 2003, Ramya made her acting debut in the Kannada film Abhi. Her work in Kannada films earned her the Udaya Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the films Tananam Tananam (2006) and Amrithadhare (2005), although she has occasionally worked in Tamil and Telugu films.
In 2011, she won a Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the eponymous heroine in the romantic drama Sanju Weds Geetha. Her other films include the 2016 epic-fantasy Nagarahavu and the 2011 blockbuster fantasy film Katari Veera Surasundarangi.
In 2012, the actress, Ramya joined the Indian National Congress as a member of its youth wing. Later in 2013, she won the election and became a Member of Parliament for Mandya constituency in Karnataka but lost in general elections the next year.
