Career
In 1982, Thompson started off her career with a stage version of Not the Nine O’Clock News. She then returned back to TV, where she got a lot of work which helped her to gain popularity. She rose to fame after working with her Footlights co-stars Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.
In the same year, she starred in the regional ITV comedy series ‘There’s Nothing To Worry About’ in which Emma’s performance was incredibly amazing.
Later, Emma Thompson returned as the networked sketch show named ‘Alfresco’ (1983-84), ran for two series with Thompson, Fry, Laurie, Robbie Coltrane, and Ben Elton.
She also paired up with her co-stars Fry and Laurie on the acclaimed BBC Radio 4 series Saturday Night Fry (1988).
