Engin Altan Düzyatan was born on 26 July 1979 in İzmir Province, Turkey. He is a Turkish actor with stunning looks. He attended Dokuz Eylül University and completed his studies in Performing Arts. In 2001, he made his acting debut with Ruhsar alongside talented stars like Hande Ataizi and Cem Davran. He got really passionate about his work and went on to act in various roles in Turkish films.

The biggest project of his life which eventually made him popular internationally, Dirilis: Ertugrul. He played magnificently the role of Ertugrul in the famous Turkish historical series composed of 5 exclusive seasons. Dirilis: Ertugrul series went viral throughout the world and it was a huge success for Engin Altan Düzyatan as well as for his co-stars Cengiz Coskun, Nurettin Sönmez, and Esra Bilgic.

Career Journey

After he made his debut in Ruhsar 2001, Engin Altan then appeared in the Turkish film named Shattered Soul (Beyza’nın Kadınları) with co-stars Demet Evgar and Tamer Karadagli. In 2007, he played the role of Murat in Sevgili Dünürüm with Haluk Bilginer, Sumru Yavrucuk and Nevra Serezli. After that, Engin Altan Düzyatan appeared in Turkish films Cennet (2008) and Mezuniyet (2009) and by then, he became quite famous in Turkey. In 2009, he played Doctor Serdar Batur in the series Bir Bulut Olsam with Melisa Sözen and Engin Akyürek. Engin hosted a Turkish version of “The Million Pound Drop Live ” game show named Canlı Para in 2010 and 2011.

In 2014, Engin Altan shared the screen with Nurgül Yeşilçay, Uğur Polat, and Goncagül Sunar in Cinayet TV series. He appeared in the TV series Dirilis: Ertugrul from 2014 to 2019, and played the role of historical character Ertugrul. At first, Engin thought that it would be a ridiculous role but his perspective changed when he read 13th century works Book of Dede Korkut, the most famous among the epic stories of the Oghuz Turks. Later on, Engin Altan agreed says “Ertugrul was a real hero, smart, mature and just.” In 2021, Düzyatan will appear as Oruç Reis Barbarossa in the Turkish TV series Barbaroslar alongside Pelin Akil and Tolga Akkaya.

I am an American who have watched several of your movies, but Resurrection Ertugrul is by far the best. I have watched it 15 times and never get bored, because there is no other movie to exceed it.     I am an 80 yr old handicapped Scottish woman living in Ct. USA since 1959. I saw on Netflix your show and decided to see what it was all about. Boy, I loved it and have been watching the 5 episodes for close to a month and now nearing the end as of today.you and your cast members were magnificent. The acting, scenary, costumes, horses were fantastic. Now what do I watch once this ends? I had a soft spot for Bamsi. The rest of you and the fighting scenes were so realistic. My eyes have been glued to the story if your heritage. Bless all of you for this eye opening story

  13. It’s been amazing to watch this series, for a glimpse of Turkish history and customs which all feels so authentic and engrossing story lines. Every aspect has drawn me in but what’s been exceptional has been the acting, the quiet dignity and strength of Ertugrul and his Alps with Stella performances from so many of the cast.     Best series I’ve ever watched. I love the true history events behind this epic series. My house work goes on hold for a couple of hours. I would take a 30 minutes break after watching for 2 hours. I have highly recommended Resurrection to my friends. All the Kayi Tribe crew are amazing. Hayme Halime, and Asiylan are very strong characters. My grand daughter watched it with me. She will flick on Netflix and say, Let’s watch Etugrul, Nana.
