I served with Hoyt in the Navy, we went to Air school together. He asked if I liked a song he was writing – Jerimia the bullfrog (later was Joy to the world. Later we were to go to Memphis for AT school, and he said he would take me to meet Elvis – But he failed and went to ship.
In the song ‘ Joy To The World ‘ , Hoyt wrote it as Jeremiah was a prophet, it was Three Dog Night that changed the word to bullfrog, for fear of repercussions from the religious community. The wine mentioned would have been Communion wine, but why burden a great song with a back story, just keep spreading the ‘Joy’.
