James Byron Dean was an American actor, born on 8th February 1931 and died on 30th September 1955. He is still remembered as a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement.

One of his most celebrated films named ‘Rebel Without a Cause’, was released in the year 1955. In the film, he acted as a Jim Stark. Among others, his two roles that defined his stardom were ‘Loner Cal Trask’ in ‘East of Eden’, released in 1955, and surly ranch hand Jett Rink in ‘Giant’ in 1956.

Career

The first appearance of Dean on television took place in a Pepsi Cola commercial. He left the college to act full time and was cast into his first speaking part, like John the beloved disciple in hill number one.

Dean went on to win three appointments in films: as a soldier in Fixed Bayonets!
