  1. Isolde Moylan says:

I am seeking information about SS Vasan and Gemini Studios, where my father – Irishman, William J Moylan – was the first General Manager from 1940 to 1943 and helped SS Vasan with planning and overseeing the reconstruction/expansion/upgrading of the studio complex following the fire that destroyed the MMPC studios and in the making of all of Gemini’s many early films.

I have heard that distinguished actor, Mohan Raman, among his many activities, is also a historian of Tamil films and wonder if he would be able to share any information he may have about Vasan and Gemini at the time – and of course anything about WJ Moylan. I am aware that he has mistakenly been described as American in much information circulating about Gemini, but that was not the case – he was Irish. He was great lover of India and the Indian people and his time in Madras. I am currently researching and writing his story – and it is a very interesting one. Many thanks, Isolde Moylan in Ireland
