Mouni Roy is a well-known Indian television as well as film actress. She is commonly known for her role as Krishna Tulsi in renowned drama serial “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” in the year 2006, Sati in “Devon Ke Dev Mahadev” and Shivangi Singh in drama serial Naagin. She has also played the character of Meera in drama serial “Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq.” She was a participant and finalist in TV show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in the year 2014. Mouni Roy is a professional Kathak dancer. She made her first film debut with “Gold” with co-star Akshay Kumar.
Mouni was born in Kolkata, India on 28th September 1985. She belongs to a Rajbongshi family. Her grandfather, Shekhar Chandra Roy was a renowned artist of Jatra theatre whereas her Mom Mukti is a well-known theatre artist; Mouni Roy completed her school education till 12th class from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Cooch Behar and afterward settled in Delhi. She took admission in mass communication at Jamia Milia Islamia on her parents insist, though left the course in middle and went to Mumbai with the sole intention of trying her luck in Bollywood movies.
In the year 2011, Mouni Roy appeared in a Punjabi movie titled “Hero Hitler In Love”. She made immense fame after her role as Sati in Life OK’s fabulous series Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. All through that time she played the leading role of Meera together with co-star Aditya Redij in Life OK’s Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq in the year 2013. In 2014, she took part in a dancing reality show on Colors TV Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 7 together with Punit Pathak.
In 2015, Mouni Roy returned to TV with Ekta Kapoor’s mythological series Naagin playing her role of Shivanya contrasting co-stars Adaa Khan and Arjun Bijlani. In 2016, Mouni voiced for the role of Sita in the animated film Mahayodha Rama. In 2018, Mouni Roy made her first Bollywood debut opposite Akshay Kumar in “Gold” under direction of Reema Kagti. Mouni would also make her appearance in digital world by way of Balaji’s web series Mehrunissa.
She has also played a role in Indian superhero trio Brahmastra, produced by Karan Johar with co-star Ranbir Kapoor Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt set to release in the year 2019. Moy Roy spread her name all across India from her first Bollywood debut Gold and her smash hit franchise Naagin. Alongside she is recognized for her modish dresses as a fashion icon.
