Nazia Hassan also known as the “Queen of Pop” was a Pakistani mega-hit pop singer, songwriter, social activist and lawyer. She was born on 3rd April 1965 in Pakistan. The pop singer started his musical career just at the age of tenth years and became the most popular playback singer of Pakistan at the age of fifteen year. During her successful musical career, she got degrees in economics from Richmond, The American International University, Landon and in Law from the University of London. Nazia got married on 30th March 1995, with a Pakistani businessman Mirza Ishtiaq Baig. Unfortunately, the Queen of Pop died due to lung cancer at the age of thirty-five on 13th August 2000 in London.
Career Journey
Nazia was a great singer and started his career as a child artist on PTV in the 1970s at the same time, however, she started her started a professional singing career by singing a famous Bollywood song “Aap Jaisa Koi” as a lead vocal in the 1980s. This song was the most popular song of the film “Qurbani”. At this time Nazia was just only the fifteen years old. It was the super hit pop song of Bollywood of that time. Then Nazia and Zoheb sang numerous songs for the Bollywood actors.
Nazia and Zohaib’s first album was launched in 1981, named “Disco Deewane” and she became the first playback singer. Her album was mega-hit not only in Pakistan and India but also hit in America, West Indies, Latin, and Russia. The album broke the business records of any album in Pakistan and India. Hassan’s second album was “Boom Boom”, released in 1982 which song was also included a Bollywood movie “Star” in 1982. Her second album was also hit in the box office. Following the years, in 1984 Nazia also launched the first music videos album of Pakistan “Young Tarang” which made by David Rose and Kathy Rose in London. This album was also her third album. It was the breakthrough of the Pakistan musical industry that has the popular music album in Asia. One of the most recognized songs of this album is “Ankhien Milane Wale”.
“Hotline” was the fourth studio album of Nazia and Zoheb which was released in 1987 from the Pakistani pop duo. Whereas the fifth and last album of her singing career was “Camera Camera”, released in 1991. The album was influenced by the Pet Shop Boys of London.
Nazia was also a good host, he also appeared in various musical TV programs on PTV, such as in “Sung Sung” with Sohail Rana in 1988. “Music 89” was the first-ever all, pop-music stage show in the television history which was aired on TV. The show was co-hosted by her brother Zohaib Hassan and produced by Shoaib Mansoor. At the same time, she was also hosted Dhanak on PTV.

Nazia Hassan was internationally known pop singer and her album Disco Deewane in 1981, was broke the record of Asia and liked by the people of fourteen different countries worldwide Pop singer due to her international popularity, honored by various national and international awards. She was also nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her singing performance in “Boom Boom” during her life.
She is honored by Google, every year on her birthday. Like in her 53rd birthday the Google users in Australia, Canada, Iceland, New Zealand, and Pakistan saw that “imagines her performing with her famous flowing hair and dupatta, and the disco balls of the 80s glinting behind her.”
She was also honored by the posthumous honorary degree of Doctorate from Richmond American University, London in 2014, received by her son Harris.
