He has appeared in a wide range of productions on both the big and small screens during his career. He is well recognized for his roles on The Wire as Cedric Daniels and in Bosch as Deputy Chief Irvin Irving.

1. Almost Got Rejected For His Role In Wire

He had only minutes to prepare for the audition, and despite his lack of confidence, he chose to go forward with it. A few weeks later, he received a call informing him that he had not been chosen for the job. Fortunately, he received another call a few weeks later stating that he had indeed acquired the component.

2. Appeared In Jay Z Video Song

“03 Bonnie and Clyde” by Jay-Z and Beyonce was one of the hottest songs of the early 2000s, and Lance Reddick has an unusual connection to it. In the video for the song, he played a police officer. [1]

3. Gave His Voice To Video Games

Lance has done several interesting things outside of his on-screen career, in addition to appearing in a music video. He has provided voice work for a number of video game characters, notably Commander Zavala in the Destiny series and Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn. [2]

4. Passionate For Music

Lance had no desire to be an actor. Instead, music was his first love and something he had always intended to pursue professionally. Although acting eventually became his primary emphasis, he never abandoned his musical ambitions. He published an album named “Contemplations & Remembrances” in 2007. [3]

Lance’s path to becoming an actor was, to say the least, unconventional. He only became interested in acting after suffering a significant back injury that prohibited him from returning to his previous professions delivering newspapers and working in restaurants. [4]

Lance has always been a fan of comic books, and one of his favorite characters is Batman. In 2014, he was given the opportunity to play Ra al Ghul in the TV series Beware the Batman. Perhaps one day he’ll be able to participate in a live-action Batman project.

7. A Dedicated Family Man

He values his privacy and keeps the media’s attention on his career. We do know, though, that he is a devoted family man. He has been married to Stephanie for about a decade. He has two children from his first marriage, a son and a daughter.

8. Also Attended Yale University

In his late twenties, he chose to go to Yale University’s theatrical program. He was initially interested in pursuing acting in the hopes that it would boost his music career.
