Navjot Singh Sidhu was born on 20 October 1963 in Patiala, Punjab, India. He is an Indian National Congress politician, television personality, and former international cricketer. And was previously the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in the state of Punjab.

1. His Early Education
Sidhu started his schooling at Patiala’s Yadavindra Public School and went to Mohindar College to pursue his graduation. Later he went to Mumbai for the HR College of Commerce and Economics. [1]
2. His Family And Cast
Navjot Singh Sidhu belongs to the Jat Sikh family. His father, the late Sardar Bhagwat Singh, was a cricketer. His mother is Nirmal Sidhu. He is married to Navjot Kaur Sidhu. She is a doctor and politician by profession. He has one daughter and one son.
3. Sidhu’s Career
Navjot Singh Sidhu made his first-class debut in 1981 playing for Punjab against the services at Amritsar. Sidhu was named one of five Indian Cricketers of the Year for 1989. In December 1999, he announced his retirement from cricket. He played 51 Tests and 136 One Day Internationals. And scored 27 first-class centuries in an 18-year career. [2]

Navjot Singh Sidhu was nicknamed “Jonty Singh” by his cricket buddies. People also call him “Sixer Sidhu” for his tremendous batting performance. But his fantastic name in the field is Jonty Singh. His father liked to call him Sherry.
5. Sidhu As A Politician
Navjot Singh Sidhu joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2004, the same year he contested general elections from Amritsar. He won the election and held the seat until 2014. In 2016, he resigned and left his position. In July 2021, he was appointed as the chairman of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. However, he resigned in September 2021, but his resignation was rejected by the High Command.
6. A Case Of Road Rage Unwrapped
He was sentenced to one year in prison by the Supreme Court of India in 1988, which resulted in the death of one Gurnam Singh. In this 34-year-old road rage case, Sidhu will be taken into custody. He was earlier released with a fine of Rs.1000. Now, on May 20, 2022, he surrendered to one year of rigorous imprisonment. [3]

The famous commentator is quite popular for his one-liners which are known as ‘Sidhuisms’. He regularly appears as a “cricket analyst” on various Indian news channels. And also appeared as a judge in many laugh shows. He has acted in ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ and also in the reality show Bigg Boss.
8. Sidhu In Movies
He made a special appearance in the movie “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” and also acted in the Punjabi movie “Mera Pind”. His cameo in ‘ABCD 2’ was with his former comedy buddy Kapil Sharma.
