Pradeep Kalipurayath is one of the successful Indian advertising directors, cinematographers, filmmakers. He is best known for his work, mostly in south Indian advertisements and corporate films. His first taste of popularity came with having produced and directed a music video presenting India’s first Malayalam rock band, Avial, in 2005.
The music video received quite the sensation worldwide. It was one of the first YouTube videos that had become famous in India. Since 2006, Poorman Productions created ad films, documentaries, and TV shows.
His introductory pieces of work as a cinematographer included Independent Indian English films like I Just Don’t Get It, That Four Letter Word, and Good Night, Good Morning. Also a cinematographer, he made his first Tamil feature film Saithan, a Vijay Antony Film Corporation Production.
Pradeep Kalipurayath’s first directorial venture Strange is an English short story film. The movie is immediately getting ready for release at film festivals. Besides directing the film, he also wrote the screenplay and story for the film. He has set up Poorman Productions primarily to encourage independent artists and music bands and to help them reach the limelight through music videos.
Pradeep Kalipurayath became interested in arts and photography from a young age, which arises from his father, who was a photography hobbyist. He studied at Union Christian School, Chennai. He later joined SRM Arts and Science College, connected with the University of Madras, to study BSc Visual Communications.
But Pradeep doesn’t have many followers on his Instagram private account. Recently, he appeared as Manasi’s brother in the 2020 horror thriller film Andhaghaaram. Pradeep himself composed the film’s music.
