An Indian actress, model, and dancer, Prema Narayan, made her career by working in Hindi and Bengali cinema. She is mainly known for appearing in the film named ‘Yeh Basti Badmashon Ki’ which was released in the year 1999.
In 1971, Prema Narayan won the title of Femina Miss India as she represented India at the Miss World beauty contest.
Career
Prema Narayan was born in Kalimpong, West Bengal. She is the niece of actor Anita Guha. Before joining showbiz as a career, she was worked in a convent school as an English teacher. Later, she started working as a model for many notable brands.
In 1971, Narayan took part in the Femina Miss India contest and was honored with the title of Femina Miss India World 1971. The same year she was appointed to represent India at the Queen of the Pacific pageant held in Australia where she was crowned 1st runner-up.
Later, she started off her acting career and appeared in films named Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain (1973) Maa Bahen Aur Biwi (1973), and many more.
Prema Narayan got recognized for her admiring work and acting talent that makes her stand out among others. She mostly played supporting roles for which she got huge acclaim from the audience.
As a versatile actress, Prema Narayan has acted in horror genre movies including Hotel, Saat Saal Bad, Ghabrahat, and many others are prominent.
Achievements
In 1976, Prema Narayan won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as a sensuous village belle Dhanno in the film ‘Amanush’ (1975). It was directed by Uttam Kumar-Sharmila Tagore.
