Sanjaya Baru was born in Hyderabad, India in the year 1954. He completed her schooling at St. George Grammar School as well as at Hyderabad public school. Sanjaya Baru earned his Master’s degree with a major in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Moreover, he earned his MPhil degree from centre for development studies, Thiruvananthapuram. Sanjaya initiated his professional career as an economics professor. He taught at University of Hyderabad, the Indian board for research on worldwide economic relations in New Delhi, and at Lee Kuan Yew School of civic policy in Singapore.
