Zoë Kravitz was born on 1st December 1988 in Venice, California. She is an American actress, singer, and model. She is the only daughter of actress Lisa Bonet and actor-musician Lenny Kravitz. Her stepfather is also an actor named Jason Mamoa.

From a very young age, she was determined about being an actress. Throughout her career, she has appeared in several movies including blockbusters like Mad Max: Fury Road, The Fantastic Beasts film series, The Batman, and more.

Zoë Kravitz’s parents are of mixed African American and Ashkenazi Jewish descent. When she was 5 years old, her parents divorced in 1993. At the age of 11, she moved to Miami to live with her father meanwhile spending summers with her mother. Zoë Kravitz’s mother remarried actor Jason Mamoa. Kravtiz attended Miami Country Day School and she graduated in 2007 from Rudolf Steiner School in Manhattan. She studied at the State University of New York but left college after a year and moved to Brooklyn to work in films.

Zoë Kravitz made her acting debut at the age of 15 in the film No Reservations (2007) alongside stars like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart. In the same year, she played the role of Chloe in The Brave One film with co-stars Jodie Foster, Terrence Howard, and Nicky Katt. In 2008, Kravitz made an appearance in the mystery/comedy film The Assassination of the High School President starring Mischa Barton, Reece Thompson, Bruce Willis, and many others. Following the same year, Zoë Kravitz played the lead role as Gillian in Birds of America (2008) with Matthew Perry, Ben Foster, and Ginnifer Goodwin.

In 2009, she has appeared in The Greatest, a drama/romance film directed by Shana Feste starring Carey Mulligan and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Zoë Kravitz also appeared in Tweleve (2010) film with Chace Crawford. She even took the lead role in Beware the Ganzo (2010) alongside Ezra Miller. In 2011, she played the role of Angel Salvadore in the blockbuster film X-Men: First Class starring James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender.

From that on, her success journey began magically. She appeared in the famous Divergent series (2014-2016) played brilliantly the role of Christina with co-stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, and Theo James. In 2015, Zoë Kravitz played magnificently the role of Toast the Knowing in the Oscar-winning Mad Max: Fury Road with co-stars Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult, and Charlize Theron. She has also made a special appearance in The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016-2018) series as Leta Lestrange, the film stars Eddie Redmayne. Zoë Kravitz also provided Mary Jane’s voice for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).

It was way harder for her to step into Hollywood. At the beginning of her career, she faced harassment on set. Zoë Kravitz concluded that a black woman’s role is limited to “best friend of a white girl.” She struggled her way up for all these years, she has been so passionate about her work as an actor, singer, and model. Regarding her TV debut, she made it in 2011 with Californication series starring David Duchovny, Natascha McElhone, and many other talented stars. In 2017 and 2019, Zoë Kravitz appeared in two seasons of Big Little Lies as Bonnie Carlson as her main role.

In 2020, Zoë Kravitz took the lead role in Hulu’s Rom-com series High Fidelity with co-stars Jake Lacy and David H. Holmes. She narrated Episode: “The Glassmaker” of A World of Calm alongside Mahershala Ali, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Idris Elba.

Zoë Kravitz’s upcoming film projects are The Batman (2022) as she will be playing the role of Selina Kyle / Catwoman with co-stars Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright. And, KIMI (date to be released) in which Zoë will be in the lead role alongside Erika Christensen. The film is in post-production.
